Recently I wrote about Shasta Kearns Moore’s Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a children’s book she wrote.

Twins Malachi and JJ share their mom’s lap. Shasta holds a copy of Dark & Light, the children’s book she wrote to help fund Malachi’s treatments for cerebral palsy.
Good news! Dark & Light: A love story for babies surpassed Shasta’s goal of raising $5,000, which means her project will be published. The black-and-white storybook will earn funds for her son Malachi’s treatments. Her twins JJ and Malachi, nearly two years old now, were born premature, and Malachi has cerebral palsy.
Now that she has met her initial goal, Shasta is hoping to raise $10,000 to help her get the second book in the series completed. If the goal is reached, everyone who donated $15 or above will get a free ebook copy of the second volume, a story about shades of gray playing together.
The Eugene Register-Guard featured Shasta and her family in a lovely article this week. Visit the project’s Kickstarter page to learn more about Dark & Light and to see a video of Shasta reading the book to Malachi. You can read more about her ultimate dream for this book series on her blog, Outrageous Fortune.
