Reblogged from Forest Avenue Press:
Brave on the Page received an incredible review in the Los Angeles Review this morning.
We especially love this: "Separated into three sections, the first and third consisting of interviews and the second made up of flash essays, this book offers interesting advice and inspiration from journalists, novelists, middle-grade authors, poets, nonfiction writers, writer-activists, short story writers, and all kind of writers in-between.

congratulations on this book. It’s wonderful to get such a review. JB
Thanks, Jan! Have you sent your new Crossings Guide to any newspapers? The Newport one ran my press release about Brave on the Page, and I hear the Eugene Register-Guard does a lot with book promotions. The Oregonian book pages have been shrinking, but they’re worth a shot too.
Awesome!! Congratulations and glad to see you getting such great press.
Thanks, Phillip! This is our first major one, and I’m so excited it was so wonderful. Congrats go to all our forty-two authors for contributing their insights to this anthology.
I’m not seeing a like option but “like” So wonderful! Congrats!
Interesting. I guess you can’t “like” on a reblogged post. This is my second time trying that, and I still don’t quite understand it. But thanks for the like, Emerald!
This is a splendid review – congratulations, Laura!
Thanks, as always, for your constant and vocal support! I really appreciate all of the links and comments, Duncan.
Congratulations! That’s really wonderful.
Thanks, Carrie! I love how the reviewer quoted two of the better-known authors and two of the lesser-known ones, because that speaks so much to the philosophy of this book. It’s not about “who’s who,” but who writes how, or when or what, if that makes sense!
Indeed it does.
Laura, what great news! It’s nice to get the positive reinforcement from th outside, even though you know in your heart you are on the right track. Full steam ahead!
Thank you, Naomi! I really feel all the attention the book has gotten has everything to do with my forty-two authors and their amazing contributions. I do feel like this is a vote of confidence for continuing along this path of promoting and publishing Oregon writers, seeing that pool as its own community, instead of, say, graduates of a particular MFA program. There are so many diverse writers here–and everywhere!–and it’ll be interesting to see how what Forest Avenue Press chooses to publish will create our press’ style and reputation. Lots of fun ahead–whoo hoo!
what a fantastic review, laura. i finally ordered my copy recently. so excited to read it.
Oh thanks, Valerie! I so appreciate your support, and I hope you enjoy the book. I’ve been so inspired by the authors and what they shared in their contributions, so I hope you are, too. Feel free to leave a review on Goodreads or Powell’s.com or pop me a note when you’ve read it. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Wow, that is so great! I think your initial snowball is picking up speed down that mountainside. I bet we’ll be seeing more good things coming your way!
