Kreativ Blogger Award

I have been remiss in not posting about the Kreativ Blogger Award I received from Debra Kristi earlier this year. I’ve been focused on my novel revisions and my family, and I’m finally rejoining the world.

It so happens that Valerie Lawson recently nominated me for the same award, so I figured it was high time to accept.

Thank you so very much to Debra and Valerie! Here are the Kreativ Blogger Award rules:

  1. Thank the blogger who gave you the award and provide a link.
  2.  List seven interesting things about yourself.
  3. Nominate seven other bloggers, provide links, and let them know!

Now that I’ve done number one, here I go with number two:

  • I love keeping things. Especially books. But I’m trying to weed out some things now, including getting rid of my name-brand work wardrobe from when I lived on the East Coast.
  • I wrote my first “book” in fourth grade. It was called “The Girl Who Ran Away.” My protagonist, whose name escapes me at the moment, travels to Alaska because her teacher didn’t like the cupcakes she brought to class.
  • My mom’s best friend decided to illustrate “The Girl Who Ran Away,” which prompted me to write more books in the series.
  • I’m still in touch with my kindergarten teacher.
  • My daughter wants to have my kindergarten teacher as her kindergarten teacher next year. I tried to explain about retirement. “My mom’s retired!” she announced to her friend later that week.
  • I am not retired.
  • I’m a stay-at-home mom who, when returning to the workforce, will need to buy some new clothes.

And now, to pass the award on to seven recipients.

  1. There are no rules, as far as I can see, about how to choose a Kreativ Blogger recipient, but the first blog I think of when it comes to creativity is My Silly Little Life. It’s full of exciting art and learning projects for kiddos, and I never fail to find inspiration there. If you’re a parent of young children, bookmark it ASAP!
  2. Words and Music is also super creative. Susan writes concert recaps and discusses writing and books.
  3. Natasha Guadelupe discusses novel writing–my favorite subject!–at her blog, My Novel Writing Adventures & Other Words.
  4. Angela Christine Archer is another writing blogger I recently discovered. Her craft posts are personal and insightful.
  5. At A Line at a Time, which is such a great blog title, Sarah Baughman writes about living in Germany, parenting and writing.
  6. Ginger Calem runs a wonderful weekly feature called “WritersButt Wednesday.”
  7. Aly Hughes discusses her “experiences with and theories on writing” at the aptly titled and thought-provoking Aly Hughes Writes.

I hope you’ll go check out these great bloggers and say hi while you’re there! Thanks again to Debra and Valerie.

Congrats on your award! I’ll have to check out those blogs. The only one on the list that I follow is Ginger Calem. Her WrittersButt posts have motivated me to get back into the gym with a new level of motivation! Oh, and I tagged you today in my post. I hope you play along and post some of your WIP. The world needs more French Pimp! 🙂

    • Thanks, Emma! I’m excited to play along with the Lucky 7 Meme–and I’m glad that you’ll check out these great bloggers. I love connecting people. That’s my favorite part about things like this.

  2. congratulations on another great post. i wish i were still in touch with MY kindergarten teacher. she was so cool.

    • Thanks again for the award, Valerie! I wonder if you could find your kindergarten teacher online. Mine looked me up and called me on my birthday about five years ago, and we’ve been in touch ever since.

      • what a fantastic idea! and wow! yours looked for you herself? she must’ve really liked you.

        • I hope you find yours! My kindergarten teacher’s husband worked for my dad years ago, so there was that connection. She actually found me through connecting with my parents. One day she called and sang her good morning song to my 4-year-old! Which, I think, is how my kiddo decided she wanted her as a teacher.

  3. Emma says:

    Congrats Laura.

  4. Congrats! And thank you for the nomination. In going through the others you mentioned I found amazing posts and are now following as well. Now to find the time to pay it forward!

  5. Aly Hughes says:

Oh wow, thank you for the nomination! And Congratulations on receiving the award(twice!). I’m about to go check out the other nominees. I love how these bring people together as well. 🙂

  6. Debra Kristi says:

I love that! Reading about your first book put a huge smile on my face. Congratulations on the double award! How fun. Good luck when you come out of retirement. Hehe
