Portland’s Independent Publishing Resource Center

The IPRC's headquarters on Southeast Division are expansive.

The IPRC offers classes and open hours for members to come work on their projects. Equipment includes letterpresses, a screenprinting area, laptops and iMacs, and a book binding machine.

Last week, I toured the Independent Publishing Resource Center here in Portland, Oregon, courtesy of Justin Hocking, the executive director. As a new member, I’m excited about using one of the five iMacs with InDesign, taking publishing classes and being part of the Portland publishing community in this way.

Justin told me the center moved into its expansive new headquarters on Southeast Division about a year ago. “We try to be really accessible and affordable,” he said.

Here are some photos of the IPRC, including its amazing zine library and the Yeti Research Station.

You are perfectly located for launching an independent press! I’ve got a sneaking suspicion we’ll be seeing and hearing more about Forest Avenue beyond your blog!
